Travel Logistics

There are daily flights to Leon (BJX) and Queretaro (QRO), México from Dallas/Ft. Worth (DFW) available on American Airlines.  There are also daily flights from Houston (IAH) on Continental Airlines.

Option 1:
Upon arriving in Mexico, a chauffeur will greet you at the airport and take you directly to San Miguel de Allende. It takes approximately one hour.

The population of San Miguel is 160,000.  There is a thriving large ex-patriate population of about 12,000.  In 2008 San Miguel received the very prestigious United Nations designation as a “World Heritage Sight”

The following day, you will driven by the Doctor’s private chauffeur to Celaya, which is located 45 minutes from San Miguel.

Option #2:
Some patients may opt to go directly to Celaya, from the Airport, for their pre-op testing and check-in at the hospital.  In that event, you must arrive at your respective airport prior to 3:00 p.m. the day before your scheduled surgery.  This will allow sufficient time to complete the required testing during the afternoon of your arrival date.

The Doctor’s private chauffeur will greet you, at the Airport, and take you directly to Celaya to meet with Dr. Barrera and have your pre-op lab work, EKG and photographs taken.

Dr. Barrera will address any and all questions or concerns that you might have during your office visit with him.  You will then be checked into the Hospital and taken to your room.   The following morning, Dr. Barrera will come by to visit with you prior to surgery.   Soon thereafter, you will be prepared for your surgery which will commence at 9:00 a.m.  The surgery will last approximately 4 hours.  In the hospital you will be monitored for two full days and then return to San Miguel, again by private chauffeur on the morning of the 3rd day for further recuperation and rest.  Dr Barrera will come to your recuperation location to remove your stitches one week after the date of your surgery.

Variations of arrival and departure dates can be accommodated upon request.

Your surgical fee includes transportation to and from the hospital only.  So if you choose to come to San Miguel a day or two early... that transport cost will be at your own expense.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENT:

You MUST travel with a valid U.S. Passport to enter Mexico.

The bottom portion of the “Tourist Card” that the airline issues you, is to be retained.  You MUST present this to the airline officials at the Airport, at the time of your departure.  It is a legal requirement that you have a U.S. Passport to re-enter the United States.

There is a fine if you do not present your Tourist Card stub!!
