Surgical Technique

Cosmetic Surgery is a subspecialty that uniquely restricts itself to the enhancement of an individual's appearance through surgical and medical techniques.

Dr. Barrera is unique in that he does not use a general anesthesia for his procedures.  He uses a local anesthetic and an IV sedative.  This approach has many benefits.  Most importantly, your recovery time is minimized and you don’t experience the after effects that are associated with a general anesthetic.

During the entire procedure you are breathing on your own and you experience absolutely NO pain whatsoever.  You are monitored by an anesthesiologist who is present throughout the entire procedure.

Dr. Barrera uses a surgical technique called the “Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System” (SMAS), the same technique used by the majority of  surgeons in the U.S.A.  This procedure involves manipulating both the muscle and connective tissue.  A new muscular support system for the skin is achieved with this technique.  Consequently, there is no appearance of the skin being pulled, or that wind swept look, which is so commonly associated with this type of procedure.  The achieved result is a completely natural looking correction to the face and neck area.

What joy you will experience, once again seeing that more familiar youthful YOU!
